November 6 – December 18, 2020 Curated by Johannes Honeck and Gilles Neiens Design by Sascha Fronczek [studio +fronczek] For the exhibition “body FLUIDS” in the Saarländische Galerie in Berlin we had to design an exhibition poster. “body FLUIDS” shows how differently artists tare using bodily excretions to investigate fluid topics such as the body itself, sexuality, individuality, dividuality, and gender against the backdrop of our over-sexualized digital society. The typography of the lettering body FLUIDS examines the theme of the exhibition in its flowing form. The design reminds of a liquefied Metallica lettering of the 1980s. And the color scheme itself is reminiscent of the pop culture of those years. This effect is intensified by the use of a partial relief varnish on the typography. The design of the 1980s is back in 2020: shown in the music video for WAP but also reflected in the current VOGUE cover with Harry Styles. So the design of the poster for the exhibition “body FLUIDS” combines all these mentioned components.
